FAQs

Q:
How does Microblading work?

A: During a Microblading procedure, we use microneedles with ink or pigment to create hair-like strokes to add shape and fullness to your current brows. The service works whether you have a lot or a little (or even none) eyebrow hair.

Q: What should I avoid following my procedure?

A: Sunburn: Wait until all tenderness and redness is gone before going into the sun.

Waxing, Threading, or Tweezing: Wait at least 3 days before getting any of these eyebrow treatments

Chemical Peels or Glycolic Facials, Botox or Dysport, and/or Lasering: Wait at least 4 weeks after your appointment to receive any of these treatments.

Q: When will I get to see my results?

A: Your results will be noticeable immediately! However, your final results will appear after 4 to 6 weeks. This may vary due to your skin type.

What To Expect

During the first 24 hours, your eyebrows will be dark and raw.

Itching and scabbing may appear during the first seven days post-microblading procedure. However, experience has shown that by following these after-care instructions, these symptoms may quickly disappear.

After 7 days, the scabs will begin to fall off, avoid picking the area, and keep your brows dry.

After 14-28 days, the scabbing should reside, your eyebrows will lighten, and the healing process will be complete.

If you have any unexpected problems with the healing of the skin, please contact us immediately, to discuss further instructions.

Please wash your face carefully around the eyebrow, avoid getting water on the treated area. During the shower, keep your face away from the showerhead or take a bath.

First 24 Hours

Q: What should I do (or not do) before my appointment?

A: Please do not workout the day of the procedure, as an increase in body heat will expand your pores.

It’s best to avoid heavy sunlight, especially sunburns, 3 days before procedure.

Do not drink coffee or anything with caffeine on the day of your procedure.

Avoid taking Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, Ibuprofen, or Omega-3 (unless medically necessary) 48-72 hours prior to your procedure. Tylenol or acetaminophen is okay!

Do not drink alcohol 24 hours before your appointment.

Right after your procedure, your brows may feel tender or raw, this is normal. During the first 24 hours, please use bottled water to gently rinse your brow area and pay dry (do not rub) with sterile gauze. Do not apply any type of soap or cleaner. Avoid rinsing your brows after the first 24 hours have passed in order to let your brows dry out and begin healing.

The following must be avoided post-microblading procedure while area is still scabbing:

Increased Sweating

Practicing Sports

Swimming

Hot Sauna, Hot bath or Jacuzzi

Sun tanning or Salon tanning

UV/UVA Rays or chemicals as they have been known to cause a shift in color and premature fading

Any laser or chemical treatments or peelings, and/or any creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic Acid on the face or neck

Picking, peeling, or scratching of the micro pigmented area, this will help you avoid scarring of the area or removal of the pigment

Performing tasks related to heavy household cleaning such as garage or basement cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris

Drinking alcohol in excess, as it may lead to slow healing of wounds

Driving in open air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles, or motorcycles

Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care ointment with a cotton swab

7 Days Post-Microblading Procedure

It is very important that you do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your eyebrow area for the 7 days following your service. Here at Brows by Rachel, we encourage our clients to have a dry healing. If you feel any uncomfortable dryness, tightness, or itching within 5-7 days, you may gently apply the post-care ointment (A&D ointment) with clean hands. This can be done at night time or before a shower, but be sure to use the ointment sparingly as your skin needs to heal itself. Please continue to apply the ointment only as needed until you are no longer scabbing.
